My Final Move

To a Retirement Home with Professional Movers

The number of seniors in Germany is on the rise, and places in residences and nursing homes are coveted. In some German cities, meanwhile, some enterprises specialize in moving seniors. These offer to do more than pack cartons and move furniture. From clearing out apartments to selling furniture and registering address changes, they offer seniors a variety of additional services. The seniors and their families are grateful. Many people find it extremely difficult to abandon their accustomed surroundings, to part from treasured items of furniture and associated memories – and some haven't faced a move for decades. In many cases, the path toward a supervised residence, or smaller apartment is accompanied by tears. At times like these, it is vital to have a relocation professional at your side, someone who takes time, and may even serve as a much-needed source of comfort.

We accompany seniors during relocation. We are on the scene when they or their relatives contact moving companies, and we observe preparations for the move. A final look at the old apartment, the initial moments in new accommodations. How does it feel to leave familiar surroundings behind forever? In this film, we find out.
