Self-determined – Living with disabilities
Report: Mosaik Art Studio
The Mosaik art studios are a unique opportunity for people with disabilities to work with professional artists in Berlin. Far away from "drawing as therapy" we follow Gerhard Schrade and Suzy van Zehlendorf into their studio and discover their art works. Looking at their creations it becomes obvious that disability is foreign to creativity.
Gerd Schrade and Suzy van Zehlendorf are ambitious and follow the same goal like non-disabled artists: They want to have a successful exhibition, sell their art and look for recognition. Gerd Schrade is also a little proud his work has been chosen for a meaningful exhibition in Berlin. The opening will be the highlight for the artist with Down’s syndrome.
